Formation of the Group

Following a well-attended public meeting in Kinross in May 2005, a small Steering Committee was established to actively pursue the possibility of creating a new Ramblers Group for the Kinross and Ochil area.

To test the level of interest for such a group, the Steering Committee decided to assemble a programme of walks for the summer period. This was well publicised throughout the area and proved sufficiently encouraging to persuade the Committee to move to the next stage.

At a further meeting in August attended by some 30 potential members , it was agreed to set up a new group, to be known as ‘Kinross and Ochil Ramblers’, and affiliate it immediately to the UK Ramblers Association.

At the same meeting, a  constitution for the new group was also agreed and an Executive Committee was elected to administer the affairs of the club. Finally, a full programme of winter walks was confirmed for inclusion in the Tayside , Fife and Central Area Programme.
